UIS Ties Program Mark in Wins with Victory over IC

JACKSONVILLE, IL --- The Illinois Springfield women's tennis teams tied their program mark for wins in a season with a dominating 9-0 win over the Lady Blues of Illinois College. The Prairie Stars are now 8-11 on the season and equal their wins mark from a season ago, in which they set the best winning mark in the history of the program.

In the sweep over the Lady Blues, the Prairie Stars dropped only four sets in the entire match --- two in singles and two in doubles. Jane Carter won her seventh singles match in her last eight tries, beating the top player from IC 6-1, 6-1. It was Carters 16th singles win of the season.

Jasmin Morgan, Faith Hook, and Katelyn Michl all won their matches 6-0, 6-0 to sweep the singles play.  UIS picked up the final two singles points, winning by default.

In doubles, Morgan and Sharon Danquah took the number one slot and won an easy 8-0 match, which was followed by Danielle Mendoza and Michl winning easily as well, 8-2.

The Prairie Stars will get back into GLVC action on Friday and Saturday as they host Saint Joseph's and Lewis this weekend. With just three conference matches remaining and seven matches total, the Prairie Stars will look to set a new mark for UIS women's tennis.
