Prairie Stars Fall in Four at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, MO --- Coming off back-to-back conference wins, the Prairie Stars (9-18, 2-12) fell at Missouri S&T (10-16, 5-9) in four sets. Illinois Springfield took the court for the first time in a week and fell in the opening set 25-18 before coming back in the second to take a 25-22 win. Both the third and fourth sets went to Missouri S&T, snapping a two-game win streak for UIS.

In the opening set, Emma Burkle led the way for the Prairie Stars, picking up four kills against zero errors. After falling behind 17-13, UIS rallied to tie the match at 17-17 before taking a lead and then finding the match tied again at 20 all. The Miners took the next two points but UIS came back with the final five points of the set for a comeback win of 25-22.

In the third set, UIS took an early lead at 4-3 but the Miners scored four straight points and would not relinquish the lead. The final set was nearly the same as UIS took the early advantage, up 5-3, but the Miners tallied four straight points to take the lead and never trailed again.

Alli Splitt led the way on offense, recording ten kills against just two errors for the Prairie Stars. She attacked at a .348 clip, picking up her ten kills on 23 swings. Ashley Beaton ended the night with eight kills, as did Alyssa Hasler and Emma Burkle.

Hasler added six total blocks to her season total, which now sits at 123. Ally Vicsik added nine digs, her third most in a game this season. Lexi Hall and Tiffany Wentworth both had 17 assists for the Prairie Stars.

UIS will continue GLVC play tomorrow as they travel to Drury University.
