Prairie Stars Fall to McKendree in Season Finale

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (7-11, 4-11) fell to the McKendree Bearcats (14-4, 11-4) in the season finale by a score of 1-0. On a wet and sloppy field, the Prairie Stars were unable to get on the board as they surrendered a goal in the 21st minute and were never able to put in the equalizer. Despite falling in their last five games, Illinois Springfield set a program record for wins in a season with seven.

UIS was outshot in the opening half 9-2 but came out firing in the second half. Down 1-0, the Prairie Stars fired three of the first five shots of the half, two of which were on net.

Courtney Johnson concluded a stellar freshman season with four saves, giving her 88 saves on the season with a .779 save percentage.

The Prairie Stars had a 4-5 record at home this season while accumulating a 2-0 record in neutral site games, but went 1-6 on the road. With that, the Prairie Stars scored 19 goals on the season, seven more than their mark last year.

For the fourth straight season, the Prairie Stars eclipsed their win total from the previous year and for the second consecutive season, set a program record for wins.
