INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Illinois Springfield womne's tennis team picked up three wins at the ITA Regional in Indianapolis on Friday and Saturday.
In the main draw, sophomore
Jane Carter (New Zealand) picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win against Liz Ghellere from Wayne State to advance to the Round of 32. However, seventh-seeded Izabella Ismailova was her opponent in the next round and the Saginvaw Valley opponent was too much for her as Ismailove won, 6-4, 7-5.
In the C consolation round, junior
Danielle Mendoza (Waukeagan, Ill.) picked up an 8-1 victory against Whitney Timbrook from Davis & Elkins.
Freshman
Sharon Danquah (Liberty Twp., Ohio) also won in the "A" singles consolation round.
The Prairie Stars are back on the court against Lindenwood-Belleville on Thursday, Oct. 1.
