WARRENVILLE, IL - Led once again by sophomore
Eli Cook, the University of Illinois Springfield men's cross country team placed 10th at the College of Dupage Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Division I UIC placed first in the meet followed by Division III North Central College. It was the first 8K race for the men's team.
Cook (Rochester, Ill.) placed in the top 30 with a 28th-place finish and a time of 27:23.54. Freshman
Ethan Bluhm (Springfield, Ill.) was close behind in 39th, crossing the finish line at 27:47.86.
T.J. Ness (Las Vegas, Nev.) was the next finisher for the Stars, posting a time of 30:20.62, while
Alex Ginglen was close behind at 30:55.94. Freshman
Jack Pocklington (Johnsburg, Ill.) closed out the scoring Prairie Stars with a time of 31:53.
Junior Jake Shawgo (Astoria, Ill.), freshmen
Charlie Lotspiech (Bradford, Ill.) and
Nathan Cooper (Pawnee, Ill.) plus sophomore
Justin Brown (Hopedale, Ill.) also got their first chance at the 8K race.
UIS now has a quick turnaround to prepare for the Illinois Intercollegiates hosted by Olivet Nazarene on Friday, Oct. 2 in Bourbonnais, Ill.
