Morin's Goal Gives Prairie Stars Third Straight Win

ROLLA, Mo. - Sophomore Sam Morin (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) scored her second goal of the season to give the University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team a 1-0 win against Missouri S&T Friday night at the S&T Soccer Field.

  • The Miners came out of the gate firing, forcing a pair of saves from senior goalkeeper Paige Polonus (Plainfield, Ill.) and hitting the crossbar in the first 20 minutes.
  • The Prairie Stars hit the post just minutes later on a shot by junior Nikki Auble (Plainfield, Ill.)
  • Just 14 seconds before halftime, Sam Morin tucked the ball past the near post to give the Prairie Stars the lead.
  • The Miners ramped up the pressure in the second half, outshooting UIS 10-1 and hitting the crossbar again in the 56th minute.
  • UIS held on for their second Great Lakes Valley Conference win of the season.
