HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • Prairie Stars led from start to finish in set one, but could not sustain the momentum heading into the second frame as an 8-2 run by the Eagles early on set the tone.
  • In the third set, UIS only got behind one time and hit a match-best .206 with just three errors. UIS came from behind in the fourth set, down 19-15 and rattled four straight points off to tie the game. An ace a point later from Nikki Madoch put the Stars ahead where they stayed to secure the win.
Game 2
  • Set one featured 14 ties and three lead changes with the Cougars eventually taking the 30-28 win. From there though it was in Sioux Falls' control as it hit .481 for the match and recorded just five errors.
COACH SALINAS' CORNER
  • "We played a nice complete match this afternoon and kept the errors to a minimum. We served agressive. This evening we played the best set we have ever played to begin the match, but then came out flat in the second and third. We had a lot of errors and poor defense. We are ready to get back after it tomorrow after some much needed rest tonight."
