SPRINGFIELD, IL - The University of Illinois Springfield men's cross country team finished second in its first-ever meet on the 6K UIS Campus Course.
Sophomore
Eli Cook (Rochester, Ill.) crossed the finish line in second with a time of 20:22. Cook competed with Millikin a season ago and is the lone Star with collegiate experience.
Freshman
Ethan Bluhm (Springfield, Ill.) finished just behind Cook in third at 20:57. With two Prairie Stars finishing in the top five, UIS was able to take second place. McKendree took first as five runners finished in the top 10 spots.
The next three UIS runners came in a block with
T.J. Ness,
Alex Ginglen and
Jack Pocklington finishing 16 through 18. Ness crossed the line at 23:00, while Ginglen followed 16 seconds behind. Freshman
Charlie Lotspiech and junior
Jacob Shawgo came in within three seconds of each other followed by freshman
Nathan Cooper, sophomore
Justin Brown and sophomore Jake Siedel, respectively.
UIS takes a week off to train for the College of DuPage Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 25.
