SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team blanked Millikin, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon at the Springfield Racquet Club.

The Prairie Stars started the match with an automatic two points due to the Big Blue not having enough players. No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles went to UIS.

Gerard Carpinell and Cole Buehnerkemper paired up at the No. 1 doubles spot for an 8-4 win and Hayden Esker with Pradeep Ravisankar grabbed an 8-3 victory.

In singles play, Santiago Pedraza's, 6-2, 6-0, win in the No. 3 spot secured the victory for Illinois Springfield. From then on the singles matches were played to eight. Carpinell blanked his opponent in the No. 1 spot, while Buehnerkemper won 8-2 in No. 2 singles.

Grant Fitzsimmons and Aksell Dogan each took home wins as well in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively.

The Prairie Stars return to GLVC action on Friday against McKendree. Match time is set for 12 p.m.
