PLAINFIELD, Ill. - Freshman Grant Fitzsimmons grabbed the lone victory in an 8-1 loss for the University of Illinois Springfield against Lewis on Friday afternoon at the Five Star Tennis Center.

With the win, Lewis improves to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in GLVC action, while the Prairie Stars drop to 7-10 on the campaign and 0-3 in conference play.

Fitzsimmons locked up a win in the No. 6 singles play defeating Chris Jastrab, 6-4, 6-2.
 
Cole Buehnerkemper and Hayden Esker took five sets in the No. 1 doubles spot, but could not pull of the victory. Gerard Carpinell and Santiago Pedraza lost an 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles.

Buehnerkemper was able to take five sets in the No. 2 position, but Erik Aunapuu topped him each time for the victory.

The Prairie Stars return to action on Saturday morning at Saint Joseph's.
