SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Senior
Hayden Esker led the University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team against Southern Indiana, but it was not enough as the No. 25 Screaming Eagles won, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at Washington Park.
Esker and partner
Cole Buehnerkemper grabbed one point for UIS in doubles competition. The duo improves to 13-9 on the season.
Â
In singles action, Esker took his opponent to three sets just like his match against McKendree a day before, but this time came out victorious. Esker fought Joel Stern to a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory to give UIS another point in the No. 3 position.
Â
Buehnerkemper almost grabbed another point in the No. 2 spot taking Samuel Kiladejo to three sets as well, but the Eagles grabbed the 0-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) win.
Â
UIS now plays Quincy in a non-conference match on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Chatham Glenwood High.
