SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Senior
Cassie Wolfe (Plainfield, Ill.) scored a season-high 14 points in her final game at the Recreation and Athletic Center Saturday afternoon as the University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team fell to Wisconsin-Parkside, 70-45.
The senior put together her best shooting performance of the season, going 6-for-9 from the floor and 1-for-1 from three-point land. Sophomore
Syerra Cunningham (Beach Park, Ill.) joined Wolfe in double-figures with 12 points. She finished 6-for-10 from the charity stripe.
The Rangers of Parkside came out firing in the first half, scoring the game's first 15 points. The Prairie Stars cut the deficit to 10 just minutes later on a three-pointer from sophomore
Caroline Kelty (River Forest, Ill.) to make the score 17-7, but that was as close as they got the rest of the way. Parkside extended its lead to as many 25 in the period and took a 44-19 lead into halftime.
UIS went toe-to-toe with the Rangers in the second half, matching the visitor's 26 points.Cunningham scored 10 of her 12 points in the second period. The Prairie Stars ended the game on a 14-4 run to make the final score, 70-45.
The Prairie Stars are back in action for the season-finale next Thursday at McKendree.
