Finley, Cook Lead UIS at NCAA Regionals

EVANSVILLE, IND - Sophomores Krissy Finley (Rochester, Ill.) and Eli Cook (Rochester, Ill.) led the Prairie Stars' individuals at the NCAA Regional meet in Evansville on Saturday.

Finley finished in 128th place with a time of 23:52. She was the only UIS runner to compete in the women's 6k race and nearly finished in the top half of the field of 224 runners. Freshman Lexi Yoggerst (Riverton, Ill.) was a late scratch from the race.

Grand Valley State claimed the team title with a score of 45. Hillsdale finished second in the field of 30 teams with a score of 63.

On the men's side, Eli Cook and freshman Ethan Bluhm competed for the Prairie Stars. Cook finished the 10k race in 34:30 to place 154th out of 215 runners. Bluhm finished the race in 36:23 to take 194th place.

Grand Valley and Southern Indiana finished the men's race in first and second place, respectively.

Teams from three conferenecs took part in the Midwest Regional meet. The Great Lakes Valley Conference, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference were all represented. The top three teams at the regional meet automatically advance to the national tournament for both the men and the women.
