SPRINGFIELD, IL - The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team hosts Principia College Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the team's 2015-16 home opener at the Recreation and Athletic Center.

The Prairie Stars are 1-1 this season after splitting a pair of game at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover tournament this past weekend. After falling to Hillsdale College, 75-57 on Friday, UIS turned it around on Saturday with a 60-45 win against Lake Superior State, giving head coach
Mark Kost his first win at UIS.

The Prairie Stars are under the direction of a brand new coaching staff this season. Mark Kost and assistants Catrina Green and Katelyn Connor begin their tenures at UIS. Kost picked up his first win at UIS on Saturday against Lake Superior State.
Reaching New Heights
Two Prairie Stars had break-out performances in the team's 60-45 win against Lake Superior State. Senior Ashley McHenry, after being sidelined for most of last season due to injury, went 8-of-11 from the floor for a career-high 17 points. Junior-transfer Chelsea Cross also scored a career-high, netting 12 points.
Shooters Shoot
Senior Meredith Marti took 118 shots last season, 108 of which were three pointers. She's off to a similar start in 2015-16 as she is 5-for-13 from the floor, all of which have been three pointers.
Home Openers
The Prairie Stars are 3-3 in their home openers since joining the GLVC for the 2009-10 season. Their three wins have come against Robert Morris Springfield and Lake Superior State.
Owning the Glass
UIS lost the rebounding battle against Hillsdale and then outrebounded Lake Superior State on its way to a win. Junior Syerra Cunningham pulled down 19 boards in just 25 minutes of play over the weekend.
