ST. LOUIS, MO -Â The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Missouri-St. Louis on the final day of October at the Mark Twain Building.

UIS Top Performers- Freshman Alyssa Hasler (South Bend, Ind.): finished with a team-high five kills. She also added three block assists and a team-best .333 hitting percentage.
- Senior Nikki Madoch (Algonquin, Ill.): tallied four kills and finished with four block assists.
- Junior Carly Wesolowski (Naperville, Ill.): collected a game-high 19 digs
How It Happened- After the Prairie Stars scored the first point of the match, UMSL scored five straight points on three kills and a pair of UIS errors.
- Back-to-back kills from freshman Emma Burkle (Crystal Lake, Ill.) made the score 5-3 in favor of the hosts. UMSL answered with three straight points of its own and then used a 7-0 run to break the set open, 16-5. The Tritons cruised to a first set win, 25-10.
- UMSL stayed hot into the second set, scoring six of the first eight points and 10 of the first 14 points. The Prairie Stars fought back to pull within one, 12-11, after a service ace by sophomore Lexi Hall (Champaign, Ill.) and a kill from senior Heather Smack (St. Louis, Mo.). That was as close as UIS came in the second set. UMSL finished the set on a 13-4 run that included eight UIS errors.
- After a 3-0 run by the hosts early in the third set, UIS answered with a 3-0 run of its own, capped off by a kill from Alyssa Hasler. The teams traded points to make the score 7-6, UMSL. Junior Sarah Bond (Naperville, Ill.) kick started a 4-0 run that gave the Prairie Stars the lead, 10-7. UIS held a 13-11 lead later in the set until the hosts used three UIS errors, part of a 4-1 run, to take back the lead, 15-14.
- The Prairie Stars trailed by two, 21-19, after an error by the Tritons. UMSL used a pair of kills and a pair of UIS errors to score the next four points and take the match, 3-0.
