KENOSHA, Wis. - The University of Illinois Springfield cross country teams competed for the first time ever at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Saturday at the Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course.

Southern Indiana won the team title in both the men's and women's races. Lewis' Amanda Farrough was the top finisher in the women's 6k race while Southern Indiana's Johnie Guy earned the honor on the men's side. A total of 190 runners competed at the championship, 159 women and 131 men.
The UIS women's squad finished in 15th place. Sophomore
Krissy Finley (Rochester, Ill.) was the top finisher for the Prairie Stars. She finished in 60th place with a time of 24:53.0. Freshman
Lexi Yoggerst (Riverton, Ill.) finished the 6k race in 29:31.8 to finish in 94th.
On the men's side, the Prairie Stars finished 13th with a score of 367. Sophomore
Eli Cook (Rochester, Ill.) paced the Springfield squad with a time of 28:00.0, good for 49th place. Freshman
Ethan Bluhm (Springfield, Ill.) ran the 8k race in 29:34.2 to finish in 74th place.
