Women's Basketball Treks to Saint Joseph's, UIndy This Weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team looks to snap its five-game road losing streak this weekend when the Prairie Stars travel to Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis. Game times are set for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m. CST, respectively.

•    The Prairie Stars are 5-10 and on a three-game skid after falling to McKendree, 70-61, on Monday.
•    UIS is 1-6 on the road this season while Saint Joseph's is 2-4 at home.

The Prairie Stars rank in the top of the conference several defensive categories. UIS currenlty ranks sxith in scoring defense (62.9 ppg), third in field goal defense (37.4 percent), third in three-point defense (28.1 percent) and fifth in blocked shots per game (3.43).

Road Woes
UIS is 1-6 away from TRAC this season and has lost its last five road contests. The Prairie Stars have allowed 70.9 ppg on the road, which is a 20-point difference from at home (50.9). The team also owns a +11.1 rebounding margin at home and a +1.1 margin on the road.

Tale of Two Halves
This season, UIS sports a +3.5 scoring margin in the second half of games and a -4.3 scoring margin in the first half. The team is 2-1 when it has a lead at the break and 2-9 when it doesn't.

The Two Towers
Junior Jessica Warren (6'2") and sophomore Syerra Cunningham (6'1") are the primary primary reason UIS has rebounded the ball so well this season. Cunningham leads the team with four double-doubles. Warren scored a career-high 20 points last Saturday against Lewis and matched a career-high with 11 rebounds on Monday against McKendree

UIS ranks third in the GLVC in rebounding (41.3 rpg) and is fifth in rebounding margin (+5.2). The Prairie Stars are 5-4 this season when they outrebound their opponent. Syerra Cunningham (4th) and Jessica Warren (7th) rank in the top 10 of the GLVC in rebounding.
