The Prairie Stars host Rockhurst on Homecoming night, Friday at 5 p.m. and Saint Joseph's on Sunday at 12 p.m.Illinois Springfield dropped a 2-0 decision to UIndy last Friday. Junior goalkeeper Paige Polonus (Plainfield, Ill.) grabbed eight saves in the loss. On Sunday against Saint Joseph's, freshman Regina Bolin (Kansas City, Mo.) scored a late equalizer, her second tally of the season, as the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Game times are set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.The Prairie Stars split their games last weekend against Indianapolis and Saint Joseph's. After falling to the Greyhounds, 1-0, on Friday, UIS picked up its first GLVC win of the season, defeating the Pumas, 2-0. On the women's side,
Faith Hook and
Elizabeth Purcell saved their best tennis for singles play. Hook grabbed a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 position, while Purcell won her first collegiate match in a hard-fought win in the No. 6 spot. Purcell outlasted Monika Tisdale, 6-4, 7-5 to give the Prairie Stars another victory.
Sophomore
Cole Buehnerkemper grabbed wins in both his singles and doubles matches alongside doubles partner, senior
Hayden Esker, against Lindenwood-Belleville.Buehnerkemper and Esker grabbed a convincing 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position, but it was the lone win in the pairs spot. In singles play, Buehnerkemper kept his winning ways with a victory in the No. 1 position, while Esker followed suit at the No. 2 spot.

Last Week - Sept. 30 vs. McKendree - L, 3-0.; Oct. 3 vs. Saint Joseph's - L, 3-2; Oct. 4 vs. UIndy - L, 3-0UIS ended its homestand against McKendree before heading out on the road to play St. Joseph's and UIndy. The Prairie Stars fought hard against the Pumas, but it was not enough as they took the five-setter. A powerful UIndy team swept UIS on Saturday. Now the Prairie Stars look to rebound from a six-game skid against non-conference Oakland City on Tuesday before returning home to TRAC for weekend matches. Sophomore Ashley Beaton and junior Nikki Madoch lead the team in kills with 109 and 105, respectlvely. Sophomore Kayla Katarzynski has been on the defense for UIS, digging up a team-best 215 balls from the floor. Women's GolfThis Week - Off
Last Week - October 4 & 5 - Dan Salisbury Memorial Invite - Fifth placePlay at the Dan Salisbury Memorial Collegiate Invite concluded on Sunday as the Prairie Stars finished in fifth place. Junior Becca Ramirez (Springfield, Ill.) and senior Liz Kesinger (Carrollton, Ill.) placed in the top ten while Ramirez earned All-Tournament team honors for finishing second (81-79-160).

Last Week - Sept. 29 & 30 - NCAA Regional Fall Invite #1 - T14th; October 4 & 5 - Dan Salisbury Memorial Invite - T2ndThe UIS men's team wrapped up a busy week at the Dan Salisbury Memorial Collegiate Invite this past weekend. The Prairie Stars finished in second place with two-day total of 611, just four strokes back of tournament champion Bellarmine (607). Sophomore Nathan Goecks earned All-Tournament team honors for his fifth place finish (77-74-151).
