Cole Buehnerkemper grabbed wins in both his singles and doubles matches alongside doubles partner, senior
Hayden Esker, in the University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team's 6-3 loss to Lindenwood-Belleville on Wednesday afternoon at Washington Park.
Buehnerkemper and Esker grabbed a convincing 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position, but it was the lone win in the pairs spot.
Grant Fitzsimmons and
Pradeep Ravisankar battled in the No. 3 spot, but ultimately dropped a 9-8 (6) decision.
In singles play, Buehnerkemper kept his winning ways with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Basile DeRaemy in the No. 1 position. Esker followed suit with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 spot against Gianluca Muscolino. Both Ravisankar and Fitzsimmons took their opponents to three sets, but Belleville walked away with the wins.
The Prairie Stars now have a week to prepare for their final dual match of the fall when they travel to Missouri Baptist on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Match time is set for 2 p.m. in St. Louis.
