Senior catcher Samantha Riss batted .423 as she led UIS to an 11-7 mark in the month of April. She tallied team-highs in hits, doubles, home runs, RBI and walks. The Streator, Ill., native had a .750 slugging percentage and a .523 on-base percentage. In April she had seven multi-hit games and four multi-RBI contests. She tallied a six-game hitting streak, good for second on the squad and currently holds a five-game steak of reaching base. For the season, Riss is batting .362 and leads the team in almost every offensive category.
