UIS Women’s Cross Country to Compete at Detweiller Park Friday Evening

The UIS women's cross country team is gearing up to participate in the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday, Sept. 19, at Detweiller Park in Peoria, Ill. The women's 3-mile race is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m.

This event is an early-season opportunity for the UIS team to gain valuable experience, as they compete against more than 20 teams, mostly from Illinois and Missouri. Among the participants are several teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), including Truman State, Maryville, Missouri-St. Louis, McKendree, and Quincy. UIS plans to run a partial squad, focusing on building experience and teamwork in the early stages of the season.

Detweiller Park, home to one of the most storied courses in the Midwest, is known for producing fast times and hosting countless memorable races, including the Illinois high school state championships.
