Madelyn Miller-Ross of the Illinois Springfield women's indoor track & field team will kick off the Prairie Stars' indoor season Friday evening at Grand Valley State's GVSU Holiday Open. She is slated to compete in an evening heat of the women's 5,000 meters, set for 6:33 p.m. ET.

Miller-Ross is coming off a standout cross country campaign in which she captured the GLVC individual championship and qualified for the NCAA National Championship meet. At the NCAA Regional, she clocked a career-best 21:16 in the 6K, solidifying her status as one of the conference's top distance runners.

The move from the 6K to the 5K is a familiar shift for Miller-Ross. She competed in the 5,000 meters at both the indoor and outdoor national championships in 2025 and earned All-American honors in the indoor 5K as a junior.
