UIS men's golf opened the fall 2023 season at the Arch Cup, hosted by Missouri-St. Louis, on Tuesday. The Prairie Stars compiled a team score of 608 for a 12th-place finish.

Alex Seibal, competing as an individual, finished tied for 22nd with a total score of 148. Seibal was in the top-10 athletes at the tournament in terms of par-5 scoring with a 4.88 scoring average. He tallied 26 pars while teammate Julien Babineau was close by with 25. Newcomer Francesco Abba Jr. finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 150. The LaMorra, Italy native recorded five birdies and nineteen pars.

"We struggled out of the gate this week," said Head Coach Michael Leotta. "On a positive note I think we firmly established where and what we need to improve. Sometimes that takes two to three tournaments in the fall. This is a talented group and we will only get better from here."
