ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Sophomore Talon Supak (Washington, Ill.) fired a career-best two-under par 68 on Sunday and then won a playoff to earn medalist honors at the University of Illinois Springfield Spring Invitational at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Course. The Prairie Stars finished in fourth place with a score of 576.

Supak went into Sunday's final round in a tie for 6th place after shooting a one-over par 70. Freshman Erik Thulien (Appleton, Wis.) competed as an individual and led the UIS team with a score of 69. In the final round, Supak shot a 68, the best score of the day to tie Maryville's Jack McKinney for the top spot with identical scores of 139. Supak won the playoff, earning medalist honors for the first time this season.

UIS came into Sunday in fourth place and finished in fourth place, just three strokes behind tournament champions Maryville. Lindenwood lost a playoff with Maryville and finished in second place while AIB grabbed the third spot with a score of 574. UIS' score of 284 on Sunday was the best in the field.

Thulien finished in a tie of 5th place after carding a one-over par 72. He was the top individual at the tournament. Sophomore Nathan Goecks (Lannon, Wis.), junior Kent Gregory (McLeansboro, Ill.) and sophomore Trevor Flota (Mount Vernon, Ill.) all placed in the top 20 with scores of 144, 145 and 148, respectively.

Senior Jacob Wherley (Ozark, Mo.) improved on his day-one score by five strokes to finish with a two-day score of 155.

The Prairie Stars' team score of 576 is 30 strokes better than their previous best of 606.

UIS is back in action on Thursday, March 19 for the UIS Beach Bash in Daytona Beach, Fla.
