Prairie Stars Tied for 10th at Midwest Region

Round One Results

CHICAGO, Ill.- 
Three players carded a one-over par 72 for the Prairie Stars as the University of Illinois Springfield men's golf team is tied for 10th at the Division II Midwest Fall Region at the Harborside International after the first round on Monday.

Sophomores Talon Supak (Washington, Ill.) and Nathan Goecks (Lannon, Wis.) and senior Jake Wherley (Ozark, Mo.) each fired a round one score of 73 to put themselves in a tie for 19th place. Sophomores Trevor Flota (Mount Vernon, Ill.) and Marc Cox (McLeansboro, Ill.) each shot an 80 to round out the team's day one efforts.

The Prairie Stars are tied for 10th place with Saginaw Valley State out of 34 teams with a score of 299, just eight strokes back of first place Malone at 291. GLVC members Rockhurst (T-6th) and Indianapolis (T-6th) sit two strokes in front of UIS while Drury (T-2nd) is seven strokes up at 292.

UIS wraps up play at the Midwest Fall Region on Tuesday.
