The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team will hold a Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 27. The Prairie Stars are playing a noon doubleheader against Indianapolis on that day.
 
The Sangamon County Sheriff's Honor Guard will be presenting the flags for the National Anthem, and a member of the military will throw out the first pitch. If you would be interested in throwing out that pitch, please contact Ashlyn Beasley at abeas3@uis.edu.
 
Following the contest, the UIS baseball players will be signing autographs for the kids in attendance. The military families in attendance will also be invited onto the field to play catch on the turf and run the bases.
 
UIS will be wearing special military jerseys for the doubleheader. Those jerseys will be sold in an online auction that will be available prior to the weekend. The winning bids for the jerseys will receive the jerseys after the season is over.
