The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team closed out action at the Findlay Spring Invitational with an eighth place finish in Lexington, Ky. on Tuesday. UIS recorded a score of 955 (322, 314, 319) over three rounds. The tournament was held at the University of Kentucky's Big Blue golf course which measured 6,048 yards on its par 72 layout.
Heather McLean completed the best final round for UIS with a 72 and finished at 225. McLean finished T9th after improving in each round (79, 74, 72).
Bobbi Uhl was next up for the Prairie Stars with a 233 (77, 74, 82) and
Elaine Grant scored 237 (81, 75, 81).
Sara Prieto (85, 91, 86 - 262) and
Ira Joshi (87, 92, 84 - 263) rounded out the scoring for UIS.
UIS was among the top five teams at the invitational with 22 birdies.
Heather McLean led the tournament in birdies (11) and par 4 scoring (4.03).
Bobbi Uhl had six birdies and 33 pars.
Elaine Grant recorded 33 birdies and three pars.
Anderson (SC) earned the team title with a total score of 888, and Tiffin's Lisa Marie Schumacher was the individual champion.
The Prairie Stars will compete at the UMSL Spring Invitational on April 9-10 in St. Louis, Mo. to finish the regular season.
