The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team opened their spring season at the Tunica Cup. UIS finished with a 54-hole score of 950, just four strokes behind Union University.

Heather McLean led the Prairie Stars with a three-round total of 226, which earned her the tournament win. Included in that is a two-under-par (70) second round. Bobbi Uhl, who finished tied for fifth, completed the event with a 233. Her best round was a 75 on Monday when she completed her second round before round two was postponed due to lack of daylight for some athletes. Uhl posted one eagle at the event. The team shot a 306 in the second round, its best 18-hole team score of the Tunica Cup.

Elaine Grant also recorded a top-10 finish by shooting 78 in each of the final two rounds and finishing with a score of 239. Isabel Segal and Sara Prieto rounded out the team score with 259 and 260, respectively.

UIS finished ahead of Quincy, their only Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent in the field. Heather McLean and Bobbi Uhl were both featured on the All-Tournament Team. UIS will return to action on March 12-14 in Destin, Fla.
