Balanced Effort Helps Women's Golf Win The Dan Salisbury Memorial

The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team used a balanced effort to win the 2022 Dan Salisbury Memorial at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill. Four players finished in the top-10 as the Prairie Stars won the event by 15 shots.
 
UIS had a one shot lead after 18 holes as it opened up with a 311. The Prairie Stars then closed with a 307 to pull away from their opposition in the eight-team field. It was the first tournament win for Michael Leotta as the women's head coach, and first win for the Prairie Stars since the spring of 2021.
 
Bobbi Uhl finished second overall with a 153, just ahead of her third-place teammates Heather McLean and Elaine Grant who both shot a 155. Isabel Segal was seventh overall with a 157.
 
Rounding out the team scoring was Ira Joshi with a 164. Sara Prieto scored a 167 while playing as an individual.
 
In round one, McLean and Grant led the way for the Prairie Stars, shooting a 75 and 76, respectively. In the second round, Uhl and Segal both had a 74 to lead the way for UIS.
 
Uhl led the tournament with a one-under score on par-five holes, and was in the top-five in par-four scoring, and birdies. Grant led the tournament with five birdies, and McLean was second with 23 pars. Segal shot even-par on the par-five holes.
 
UIS will be back in action on Sept. 12-13 at the UIndy Fall Invitational.
