University of Illinois Springfield women's golfer Heather McLean won the Lady Panther Invitational on Tuesday after shooting one of the best rounds in program history. The top of the UIS lineup helped the Prairie Stars finish second in the 15-team event.

McLean opened the tournament on Monday with a 77, which placed her 11th overall record. On Tuesday, she opened up the event with a birdie on two and six to get to two-under. She had bogeys on seven and 13 to drop to even-par, but then recorded five straight pars to close out the victory.

McLean's 72 was the seventh-best round in program history, and her two-day total of 149 was also seventh in the UIS record books. She finished one shot ahead of five other golfers, and her Tuesday total tied for the best round on the day. McLean led the field with a 4.63 par-five scoring average, and was second with a 2.88 par-three average. She finished the tournament with 24 pars and five birdies.

One of the golfers one shot behind McLean was teammate Bobbi Uhl. Uhl led the team in round one with a 76, and she shot a 74 on Tuesday. She led the tournament by recording pars on 30 of her 36 holes, four more pars than the next closest golfer.

McLean and Uhl's scores helped UIS finish second as a team with a two-day total of 615. That team score was the second-best in program history for a 36-hole tournament. The Prairie Stars shot a 313 on Monday, and improved by 11 shots with a 302 on Tuesday. The team's final 18 holes tied for the best mark on the day.
