Rees Leaves UIS for Same Position at Lenoir – Rhyne

SPRINGFIELD, IL ---  Head tennis coach Tom Rees has announced that he has accepted the same position at Division II Lenoir – Rhyne in Hickory, North Carolina. Rees just finished his second year at the helm and led both teams to record breaking seasons.

"We certainly will miss Tom and the tremendous work, talent, and passion he brought to the UIS Tennis program over the last 2 years," said Hayley Ross - Treadway, interim Director of Athletics. "He transformed both Tennis programs in a very short time, leaving them unrecognizable for the better. We wish Tom and Brooke the best in the future, and are happy they have this opportunity to move closer to family in Atlanta."

The men's team finished this past season with a 13-13 record, their most wins in the Division II era while the women's team set program bests for wins in both 2014 and 2015, compiling an 11-15 record this past season. Jane Carter was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2015 and was again selected to the GLVC First-Team All-Conference this past season under the direction of Rees.

Rees will follow Kim Pate to Lenoir – Rhyne after Pate accepted the director of athletics position there a few months prior. Pate has been the athletic director at UIS for the past five years.

UIS will begin the search for a new head men's and women's tennis coach immediately.
